Press Release #12-048 Noise levels may increase aboard Camp Pendleton

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. --

Camp Pendleton units will be conducting extended live-fire mortar training exercises in the Whiskey and Zulu impact areas, Saturday through Tuesday.

Artillery and mortar units will be conducting live fire exercises from 6 a.m. to midnight, Saturday through Friday. Mortar units will be conducting extended firing until 2 a.m. each night, Saturday through Tuesday.

Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
