CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. --
Camp Pendleton units will be conducting a battalion-size live fire artillery exercise in the Whiskey and Zulu impact areas, Thursday through Wednesday.
The first iteration of the exercise will be conducted from 6 a.m. to midnight, Thursday through Saturday. Additional training will resume with the firing of High Mobility Artillery Rockets (HIMARS) from 6 a.m. to midnight, Monday through Wednesday.
Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
