Press Release #15-011 Noise levels may increase in the vicinity of Camp Pendleton

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- Artillery units are conducting live-fire training exercises that will involve firing on the Whisky and Zulu impact areas, on the northern part of the base from 6 a.m. to midnight Thursday and Friday, June 18 and 19.

The live-fire training exercise will also be conducted Tuesday and Wednesday, June 23 and 24, from 6 a.m. to midnight with extended firing from 1 a.m. to 4 a.m. each day.

Units will also detonate Mine Clearing Line Charges (MCLIC) from Sunday, June 22 to Wednesday, June 24 from 6 a.m. to midnight.

Mine Clearing Line Charges are 1,750 pounds of linked C-4 (Composition C) explosives used to create a breach in minefields during combat conditions.

Depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the explosions may be amplified and heard up to 50 miles away.
