Media Advisory #15-011 Camp Pendleton to host World Famous Mud Run

CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton is scheduled to host the annual World Famous Mud Run Saturday, June 13, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Mud Run is open to authorized military and civilian participants and includes a 10K and a 5k option run with hills, tire obstacles, river crossings, two 5-foot walls with mud on both sides, a tunnel crawl, a cargo net climb, a slippery hill climb and a final 30-foot long mud pit. The series will also have a 1K Kids’ Mud Run for children ages 4 to 12.

More than 16,000 adults, 400 children, and 32,000 spectators are expected to participate in the event held during the first two weekends of June. Proceeds from the race series go to support Marine Corps Community Services quality of life programs for Camp Pendleton personnel and families.

******MEDIA COORDINATION INSTRUCTIONS******

Interested media must RSVP no later than 4 p.m., Thursday, June 11. An escort will meet all CONFIRMED media members at Camp Pendleton’s SAN LUIS RAY GATE at 7:15 a.m. Saturday. Any media that arrives after 7:30 a.m. will not be granted access and no one will be allowed to enter the venue area unless all items are clearly visible in a clear bag.
