CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. --

Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Installations – West, will hold a memorial ceremony for the 65th Anniversary of the landing on Inchon at the Pacific Views Events Center here, Sept. 15.

The ceremony will be held to honor the Marines and fallen service members who took part in the Korean War. The event will consist of a static display, a remembrance ceremony, a wreath-laying presentation, an individual bell remembrance, and a 21-rifle salute.

Marines from the 1st Marine Division, 2nd Marine Division and reserve units landed at Inchon in the early morning hours of Sept. 15, 1950. The group, led by Marines from 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, came ashore at “Green Beach” on Wolmi-Do. Supported by nine tanks from the 1st Tank Battalion, the Marines succeeded in capturing the island by noon, suffering only 14 casualties in the process.
