This Camp Pendleton fire update contains the most recent information as of Thursday evening. We do not anticipate receiving additional information before Friday morning.

At 5:35 p.m., one Camp Pendleton Fire Department fire fighter suffered heat exhaustion and is receiving medical treatment. This is the only report of a fire-related injury to date.

The fire that was reported in the Las Pulgas area of Camp Pendleton at 3:15  p.m. has grown to 600 acres and is moving south at a moderate rate of speed with 0% containment. Due to the fire, both Camp Las Pulgas and Camp Margarita were ordered to evacuate at 4:30 p.m.

309 Las Pulgas personnel were evacuated north to the School of Infantry, while 62 Margarita personnel were moved south to Camp Del Mar. Those evacuations remain in effect overnight.

The Tomahawk fire that started at Naval Weapons Station Fallbrook at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday before spreading to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and the City of Fallbrook is now reported at 6,300 acres and 15% containment.

Eight Marine Corps CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters, seven CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopters and four UH-1Y Huey helicopters provided support to the Escondido fire and the Coco’s fire in San Marcos.

Naval Weapons Station Fallbrook will remain closed Friday.

The cause of the fires are under investigation.
