LCDR Robert J. LeCompte, Jr

LCDR Robert J. LeCompte, Jr. is a 1990 graduate of the University of Florida and a 1997 graduate of the Seminary at Oral Roberts University. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the United States Navy on December 31, 2002.


LeCompte’s operational assignments included a deployment as an individual augmentee to the US Army Fifth Corps, Multi National Corps (Deputy C3 Chaplain) Iraq, Baghdad, Deputy Command Chaplain for Marine Aircraft Group 31, a deployment as Marine Aircraft Group 29 (FWD REIN) Command Chaplain and Casualty Evacuation Chaplain, and an extended Western Pacific deployment as Ship’s Chaplain aboard USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD-6) in support of counter terrorism operations against Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula.


His ashore assignments were Staff Chaplain aboard Naval Station Pearl Harbor, Deputy Command Chaplain aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, and Command Chaplain for Naval Support Activity Souda Bay, Crete, Greece.


Upon transitioning to Reserve status in 2015, Chaplain LeCompte completed successful ADSW orders as Command Chaplain for COMLCSRON ONE and multiple ADT orders to COMDESRON 15 Yokosuka, Japan as Staff Chaplain.


LCDR LeCompte’s military awards include the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Marine Corps Commendation Medal (fourth award), the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal (fourth award).


Chaplain LeCompte is also the recipient of the Military Chaplain Association’s “Chaplain of the Year” (Navy Reserves) for 2018 for his work for the Sailors of COMDESRON 15 Yokosuka, Japan following the FITZGERALD and MCCAIN collisions.


Chaplain LeCompte and his wife, Rebecca, live in Spring Valley, California, and have been married for over 30 years. They have three children Nathaniel (28), Jesse (25), and Sophia (15).
