Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton hosted Operation Rapid Hire 2.0, a hiring initiative sponsored by Marine Corps Installations West Civilian Human Resources Office and Marine Corps Community Services at Pacific Views Event Center, Feb. 27, 2018.

The event connected applicants looking for a federal job with potential employers.

“Operation Rapid Hire 2.0 is a Marine Corps Installations-West hiring initiative that is intended to capitalize on the skills of our transitioning service members and veterans,” said Francesca M. Ramos-Cromwell, Deputy Director, Civilian Human Resources MCI-West. “This platform enables the hiring managers to leverage special hiring authorities specifically focused on employment of our veterans.”

Hiring managers looking to fill positions for police officers, transportation assistants, contract specialists and many more answered questions, reviewed resumes and conducted interviews of potential candidates.

“It’s a pretty good opportunity for us to get out here and meet some possible employers,” said Michael Space, event participant and former air traffic controller. “It’s good to get experience in talking to employers and building a resume, actually learning about the job field and what to expect.”

This is not the first time the event is being held, with past iterations reporting successful results. Due to the success of Operation Rapid Hire 1.0, organizers have extended their invitation to other military installations including Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego and Marine Corps Air Station Yuma.

“Operation Rapid Hire 1.0 yielded a successful placement rate of 62% for Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. This second iteration is expected to yield even better results by offering over 430 positions for transitioning service members and enables direct engagement with our hiring managers to quickly fill critical jobs within MCI-W region and its supported commanders in the operational forces.” said Ms. Ramos-Cromwell.
