Sergeant Major Michael E. Cedeno

Sergeant Major Cedeno was born in Harlingen, Texas. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on 24 April 1995, and attended recruit training at MCRD San Diego, California. Upon completion, he received training at Marine Combat Training (MCT), at Camp Pendleton. Upon completion of MCT, he attended the Basic Radio Operators Course in 29 Palms, California and received the MOS 2531.                                                                               
                                                                                                                                                                    
Following MOS School, Private First Class Cedeno reported to Alpha Battery 1st Battalion, 10th Marines in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. In February of 1997, he left for a Mediterranean Float with the 22d MEU.  While on the deployment, he participated in Operation GUARDIAN RETRIEVAL in Brazzaville, Africa.  He also conducted a Noncombatant Evacuation Operation for Operation NOBEL OBELISK in Freetown, Sierra Leone.  
 
In January 1999, Sergeant Cedeno reported to 3d Marine Regiment, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. While assigned he participated in Exercise CROCODILE-99, Exercise TANDEM THRUST-01and Exercise RIM OF THE PACIFIC in February 2002. 
 
Sergeant Cedeno attended Drill Instructor Course 4-02 at Parris Island, South Carolina in May 2002. He completed six cycles as a drill instructor and two as a senior drill instructor.  
                                                
In December 2005,  Staff Sergeant Cedeno reported to 9th Communication Battalion, Camp Pendelton, CA. He deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 05-07. Upon returning to Camp Pendleton in February 2007, Gunnery Sergeant Cedeno was assigned Support Company as Company Gunnery Sergeant and in October 2007 assumed the billet of Company First Sergeant 
 
In May 2008, Gunnery Sergeant Cedeno executed orders to Rice University in Houston, Texas to serve as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor.  Gunnery Sergeant Cedeno trained candidates at Officer Candidate School in Quantico, Virginia during the summer increment of 2008. In the summer of 2009, he supported the Career Orientation and Training, Midshipmen in Camp Pendleton, CA.    
 
 In August 2010, First Sergeant Cedeno reported to 2d Battalion, 3d Marines Kaneohe Bay, HI and was assigned as the Company First Sergeant for Golf Company.  While assigned to Golf Company, he deployed to Afghanistan in November 2010 and returned in June 2011 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.  He deployed again with Golf Company to the Pacific on Unit Deployment Program in June 2012. First Sergeant Cedeno received PCA Orders to report to Combat Logistics Battalion 3 (CLB-3), 3d Logistics Regiment 3, 3d Marine Logistics Group in February 2013. He was assigned as the Company First Sergeant for Headquarters and Service Company. 
 
 In January 2015, Sergeant Major Cedeno assumed the post as Battalion Sergeant Major for 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, Twentynine Palms, CA. Sergeant Major Cedeno deployed twice with the battalion in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE 16.1 and 17.2. 
 
In January 2018, Sergeant Major Cedeno reported to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 267, Camp Pendleton, CA. as Squadron Sergeant Major. He deployed with the squadron to the Pacific on Unit Deployment Program 19.1 and returned April 2019. 
 
In July 2019, Sergeant Major Cedeno reported to Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3d Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA as Group Sergeant Major. 
 
In September 2022, Sergeant Major Cedeno reported to Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations West, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, CA. for assignment as Sergeant Major.
 
Sergeant Major Cedeno's personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (Gold Star in lieu of 2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Gold Star in lieu of 5th award) and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Gold Star in lieu of 2nd award).
