OF THE PREPARATION OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
FOR THE BASILONE ROAD LANDSLIDE REPAIR AT
MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the above-named project to analyze and evaluate the environmental effects of the Proposed Action on biological resources.
The Proposed Action is to repair and stabilize approximately 2,300 feet of Basilone Road between the 51 and 52 Area, in the northern portion of Camp Pendleton, that was deemed unsafe to utilize after a slow-moving landslide occurred over the first few months of 2023 that destabilized the section of road. This essential Base road will remain closed until repaired. To prevent utility disruption to the 51 and 52 Area the following utilities were reconnected above ground (high-lined) in temporary pipelines along Basilone Road via an emergency order from the Facilities Engineering & Acquisition Division (FEAD): a 16-inch sewer line, a 12-inch sewer line, and an 18-inch potable waterline. These three utility lines will be replaced, tested, and reconnected to the existing underground system as part of the landslide repair project. Impacted powerlines were also rerouted as a separate emergency project completed by San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) to maintain power and prevent electrical hazards and fire potentially resulting from the impacted lines.
The Proposed Action will stabilize the impacted section of Basilone Road for safe use by vehicles and properly reestablish the existing utilities utilized by the 51 and 52 Area on Camp Pendleton.
The environmental analysis is anticipated to be completed in 2025; however, additional information about the Proposed Action is available by contacting the Camp Pendleton Environmental Security office. The EA will be used to determine if a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) is appropriate for the action. Electronic or written comments will be accepted through 12 Mar 2025.

PUBLIC NOTICE
FOR THE PREPARATION OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT TO
INSTALL NEW UTILITY LINE, LIFT STATION B31220 AT MARINE CORPS BASE
CAMP PENDLETON, SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the above-named project to analyze and evaluate the environmental effects of the Proposed Action on biological resources.
The proposed action is to provide new electrical service to Lift Station B31220. The lift station is being utilized more frequently than in the past, and requires a more permanent, consistent power source, tied into the current utility infrastructure. The project proposes to remove an undersized generator and connect Lift Station B31220 to the electrical grid. This would include the installation of 12 new galvanized steel utility poles along an unnamed dirt access road that extends southwest from Macs Road. The 12 new utility poles, and associated overhead 12 kilovolt power line, would tie into the Base’s current utility grid and service Lift Station B31220.
The environmental analysis is anticipated to be completed in 2025; however, information about the Proposed Action is available by contacting the Camp Pendleton Environmental Security office. The EA will be used to determine whether a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), is appropriate. Electronic or written comments will be accepted through 12 Mar 2025.
